The Senior Center is embarking on an exciting project that will affect the entire community. Plans include an approximately 11,000 sq. ft. expansion that will become a community asset and focal point for Faribault's older adults. This expansion will bring a nearly two million dollar investment into the City's recreation and social center campus providing an economic benefit to the community and its residents. In addition, the expansion will help anchor the downtown, a key element in the City of Faribault's comprehensive plan. The Senior Center will be well utilized during the day and transform into a multi-faceted programming center for the City of Faribault in the late afternoon, evening and weekend hours, providing efficiencies for both organizations.
Over $1M has already been raised in cash and pledges from the private sector toward the $1.9M goal. More than 380 contributors have given gifts from Senior Center members, community members and businesses.
The 11,000 sq. ft. expansion will include a:
- Fitness area
- Private meeting and consultation room
- Personal care space
- More handicapped parking spots
- Covered entrance
- Larger socialization area
- Up-to-date technology
- Larger room for presentations
