Long Term Care Services

Home and community based long term care services include a wide variety of personal care, health care, and other supportive services.  Those services also enable individuals to continue living at home, maintaining as much independence as possible.  Join us on Thurs, August 17th beginning at 1:30 p.m. and learn about these options and how you can access them for your clients or loved ones.

Program presenters include Diane Winkels, RN, RCPH, Jolene Nelson, SW, RCPH and Carla Pearson, SW, Three Rivers Community Action.

The Faribault Fire Department operates out of 1 fire station with a crew of 9 full time and 24 part-time firefighters, along with the Fire Chief and a department secretary.  The Department provides services to the city of Faribault and an additional 126 square miles in townships surrounding Faribault.  Our tour guide will be the Faribault Fire Chief, Dustin Dienst.  Pre-registration is required and can be done by calling the Senior Center at 332-7357.

Talking about medications

When prescription and over the counter medicines are taken in the right way, they are safe and effective tools for good health.  On Thursday, August 17th, local pharmacist Bill Boyes will be available by appointment for a free Medication Check-up.  During this conversation, you will review each medication (both prescription and over-the-counter) and discuss your medicine-taking routine.  The conversation is private and confidential, with opportunity to ask questions and get personalized tips. Please call 332-7357 to make your appointment.

Support Group starting in August

The Minnesota Elder Justice Center (MEJC) and the Faribault Senior Center are partnering on a community support group for those affected by elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation and hope to give them an opportunity to speak and be heard.

Our first meeting is from 6-8 p.m., Monday, August 21st at the Senior Center, where we will listen to a presentation on basics of elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation followed by a group discussion. Subsequent meetings will be held on the third Monday of each month. There is no cost, pre-registration or Senior Center membership required. For more information: www.elderjusticemn.org
